We waited with antipication…we did all our quirky routines…and it seemed that Mother Nature was on our side for harvest 2012. The fruit that came in the winery was exceptional. The fermentations smelled awesome and tasted wonderful. This was truly a stellar year for vineyard owners, vineyard managers, and wine makers.
Someone asked me on twitter if this was the harvest of the century. I would have to say “yes…this is the harvest of the century.” I predict you will be tasting some stellar wines from this harvest.
Passaggio Wines will be adding to its line up this year so keep an eye out for the following wines: Unoaked Chardonnay, Pinot Grigio, Sauvignon Blanc, Rosé, Pinot Noir, and Merlot. You can join the Passaggio Passionistas Wine Club and have these wines shipped to you throughout the year.

If you haven’t tasted any of the Passaggio Wines now is your chance. Join me in downtown Napa on July 11th, 2012, 6-8pm for a flight of Passaggio Wines. 1313 Main will be pouring the 2011 Unoaked Chardonnay, Pinot Grigio and the Rose Colored Glasses. All three perfect for these warm summer days…perfect with light foods and great company of friends.

Follow Your Passion
I have to admit, other than harvest, this is one of my favorite times of the year. I get to start the blending process. It is amazing to blend separate lots of unoaked Chardonnay together and end up with an awesome wine…gotta love that!!
I started out with four different stainless steel vessels of Chardonnay, fermenting each with different yeasts. After fermentation was complete, I added SO2 to stop the secondary fermentation process. SO2 also helps inhibit spoilage, prevent oxidation, and preserve the fruity flavors. I stirred the lees of each vessel about every other week until I got the desired mouthfeel. (what we call “sur lie” aging)
Today was the day I played around with some blending trials. Each vessel has its own unique characteristic and when blended as a whole it gave the wine several flavors of complexity. Although I have a few more things to do before it’s bottled, I do believe it will be a fantastic unoaked Chardonnay.

There’s a lot of talk about Valentine’s Day and the whole gift giving idea…but if you plan on getting your significant other a diamond for this Valentine’s Day good for you. One of the best recipes I have found for such an occasion is diamonds, flowers, and a great bottle of wine. You could say the Passaggio Chardonnay or Pinot Grigio are like liquid gold that pairs very well with diamonds. Do you think they would fall for it?

Passaggio Wines is about to launch their new venture…
Passaggio Wines will be producing 4 varietals this coming year. Harvest is about to get started and I am very excited for what the future holds. In 2011, Passaggio will produce the famous Unoaked Chardonnay, Pinot Grigio, Rosé, and a Pinot Noir. Yes…a Pinot Noir. (jumping up and down)
You will soon be able to join the Prestigious Wine Club and get these wines delivered to your doorstep at least twice a year. I am very excited about this offer for those of you who have followed Passaggio for the last four years and have placed your trust in me. I hope you will join me in this new venture.
I do need some help though. What do we call this wine club – give me your thoughts. The person who comes up with the name for Passaggio Wines wine club will be given one year free subscription starting this fall.
