It’s another glorious day in the beginning of harvest 2009. There is excitement in the air and everyone has lots of energy (for now). The cellar workers tend to run on excitement and just the hype of another harvest. It’s the grapes that make us smile. 🙂
Since my last blog I have made lots of friends on Twitter. One of my twitter friends (1337wine) has a video blogsite, which is very cool by the way. (His website is http://www.1337wine.com) He was interested in doing a skype interview with a winemaker and I jumped at the chance. It sounded very interesting and very cool to me. I had not heard of anyone doing this so I gave it a shot.
Now, as some of you may know, I am not an expert at technology by no means. I can barely figure out how to set this blog in motion. I had to go out, or I should say, had a tech friend go out and buy me a headset and set up my skype account. Then she had to show me how to use it…oh brother.
The day of the interview I was a nervous wreck. First of all I was hoping I could remember how to use the skype account and then remember how to make a video call to 1337wine. Second of all, he was going to be tasting my wine for the first time, on the spot, in front of me (well, on screen) and…..what if he didn’t like the Passaggio Unoaked Chardonnay….?
I set up in the conference room at work. It looked like I was about to hack into the White House Computer System or something…or like I was an astronaut about to talk to NASA. Anyway, I made my video call and viola…I got through to 1337wine. We had a wonderful chat and behold he loved my wine. It was a success.
It was a first for both of us….I truly enjoyed myself and was glad it all went well….he even gave a shout out to garyvee….(Gary Vaynerchuk)
Thanks 1337wine for the awesome interview….I wish you the best in your new endeavors with skype interviewing…
It is August, the time for drinking white wine or Rose. What could be better than sitting outside with friends and drinking an Unoaked Chardonnay or a refreshing Rose? Grilling hamburgers and sipping a white wine is what I am thinking…
I have been twittering lately and really enjoying the interaction of all the people I follow. I have learned things from marketing, blogging, wine recommendations, to personal branding. I have run across those that tend to use twitter for a purpose that is not appealing….but you can block those people or just delete them.
I find the whole twittering thing pretty important for those who want to stay connected with the social media . You will find it rewarding if you look at it from this prosepctive.
Anyway…gotta go for now – I think the hamburgers are about dine and I need another glass of wine…
Well…it’s been awhile since our last date, and I am feeling a little more comfortable now talking with you. It could be because of this new social networking craze that has just exploded right before my eyes. I remember trying to build my facebook account, and now I am Twittering. Who would have thought that I could be Twittering…or even have a Facebook or a Twitter account? It has been exciting to watch this explode and grow so quickly. I have watched some people grow their facebook and twitter accounts to thousands…how do you do that?
If you are not a computer savvy person it can be difficult but not impossible. Trust me, if I can do it, you can do it…I love the concept of both Facebook and Twitter. Facebook seems a little more slower to me than Twitter. Twitter is a very fast pace social network and both can be very addicting. It’s amazing how much you want to see what your friends are up to. We have grown from snail mail, landline calling, beepers, mobile phones, txt messaging, email, AIM, Facebook, and Twitter. I am sure there are others out there that people are using and there are probably more on the horizon. Even so, if you want to stay connected to the social scene, Facebook and Twitter are the way to do it.
Just when we thought our society couldn’t get any faster, this new networking technology shows up and takes the social networking by storm…
Hope to see you on Facebook or Twitter,
